Oh how much fun they can be
One of the best lessons
I ever learned
From taking Love and Logic classes
Was to engage my kids
While doing household chores
Make it fun
Do it together
Start off young
Let them see it is what we do
As a family
Together
It goes faster
And we will feel good
Doing them
And feel even better
When they are done
Now that my kids are older
We will designate
30 mins to clean
They have specific things to focus on
And I do too
After I am done with mine
Which I consciously stop short
So that I may participate in theirs
I will walk in on what they are doing
Admire
Acknowledge
And then help them finish it
All the while
Singing, dancing and grooving
To the moment
My kids
Love it
And so do I
Is there work perfect
Nope
Does it matter
Nope
Are they trying
Yup
Do they feel great about themselves
Yup
Do they argue when I ask for help
Nope
Do they willingly help out
Without being asked
Yup
Do they notice moments
Throughout the rest of the week
Where they can help out
Yup
Are there tears and arguments
Never
Is there fun and a sense of accomplishment
Always
