This morning
Is going down in history
As one of my most favorite
Mornings
EVER
I was feeling a little down
As I dropped the kids to school
Made my way to the market
Detergent
Agave
Eggs
Paper towels
Were on my mind
Walking through the aisles
Became tedious
As a gloom set in
I checked out
Got into my car
Where my dog
Bella
Patiently
Waited
I drove west
Toward our next destination
The gloom lingered
The heaviness
Thickened
I parked
Got out
Cup of coffee in hand
And then it happened
Woody came walking over and offered
A doughnut
A simple glazed doughnut
Delivered with care
Now I am not a doughnut kind of girl
But this morning
There was something in the offering
That I could not resist
I took it
I ate it
With my coffee
What a lovely pairing
By the way
I walked into the dog park
Met my new friends
I call them my Tribe
I took in the mountainous back drop
And it hit me
Life is good
Life is fucking good
When you can allow yourself to find
Friends in the strangest of places
When you allow them to give to you
When you walk with them
Without a destination in mind
When you watch your dogs run
With complete abandon
When you take in a moment
Allow the simplicity to intoxicate every cell in your body
And allow it to carry you to
Pure happiness
Life is good
When we let go of expectations
Wanting for something different
When we welcome what is
Stay present to the unfolding
When we receive the gifts of today
In whatever unexpected way
They show up
And for today
It was in the form of an out stretched hand
And a simple glazed yummy
Doughnut
